Get involved

There are a number of different ways you can participate in the great work young people of Scarborough are doing with Sidewalk …

1. Sign up for our newsletter here

2. Become a donor

Or send a cheque Payable to ‘Sidewalk Detached Youth Project’

3. Friends of Sidewalk

Here at Sidewalk, we are all about community. We strongly believe that if we are to see a change in our town we have to work together to create a better future. If you are a local business or organisation and you are interested in supporting a local charity please consider becoming a ‘Friend of Sidewalk’. Perhaps you could nominate us as your charity of the year or support us with a yearly donation. Alternatively, you might have some resources or equipment that you think might be of use to us.

4. Volunteering

If you share Sidewalk’s vision for supporting young people in Scarborough then maybe you could consider joining the team?

Volunteers are crucial to our day to day operation and are an invaluable part of the organisation. There are two key areas you can get involved in Youth Work. If you feel you could offer your services in face to face delivery there are a number of different opportunities for you. You could join us out on the streets engaging with young people through our detached youth work or perhaps you could become part of one of our group work project or activity trips. Alternatively, maybe you have a particular skill that you’d like to share with young people, maybe you’re a musician or an artist, a mechanic or a chef? If you think you could offer your skills and experience to help young people we would love to hear from you.

You don’t need any specific training or prior experience, the most important thing is that you share Sidewalk’s values and respect young people. We give all volunteers training and ongoing support to help them grow and develop in their understanding of youth work. If this appeals to you please do get in touch. Everything starts with a conversation!

Complete our Sidewalk Volunteer Application Form and send it to admin@sidewalk-scarborough.com or get in touch via the contact page…

5. Admin and Organisation

Behind the face to face work is the planning, admin and crucial day to day upkeep of the project. If you feel you could offer us some of your time to help in this area we’d very much appreciate it!

– Administration – Book Keeping, planning and general office assistance

– Fundraising – Writing to local business, helping find sources of funding.

6. Trustees and Steering Group Members

We’re also looking for people to become trustees of Sidewalk and join our management committee. We’re particularly on the lookout for someone with admin skills to take on the treasurer role. We meet every couple of months to reflect on the direction of the organisation and to envisage how we can best support young people and our local community.
